New York Bred claimer ($35,000), MISSION APPROVED, wins the one and a quarter mile G1 $400,000 WOODFORD RESERVE MANHATTAN HANDICAP on June 11, 2011, beating grass Champion Gio Ponti.
After being claimed by trainer Naipaul Chatterpaul on 11 June 2010, Mr. Chatterpaul consulted with noted equine nutritionist and pedigree analyst Dr. Edward J. Messina. Following his advice as to the quality of the horses pedigree, Mr. Chatterpaul began feeding the horse RACE FORMULA, an equine nutritional supplement provided by Dr. Messina. On July 11, 2010 the horse was entered in the G1 Man O’War Stake. On this occasion he was beaten a neck by Gio Ponti for the win and finished second. Injured in this race, Mission Approved was placed on Dr. Messina’s feed supplement, PRO-DEV-GRO and turn out.
Mission Approved returned to training and was placed on RACE FORMULA again. He was entered in the G1 $400,000 Woodford Reserve Manhattan Handicap to be run on Belmont Stakes day. Once again in the entries was Gio Ponti who had beaten him the year before. Brilliantly prepared by trainer Naipaul Chatterpaul, Mission Approved went wire to wire to win the race beating grass Champion Gio Ponte and several other Group/Graded Stakes winners.
CONSIDERATE, wins a $42,000 Allowance race at Belmont Park, on Fathers' Day, for her owner and breeder Dr. Messina.
CARBON COUNTY, a 3 year old son of Suave, breaks his Maiden going a mile in only his second career start, winning by 5 lengths.
SLEVIN returns to the races as a 5 year old and wins.
